Job description
We are pioneering the development of advanced humanoid robots designed for household use, with a mission to create an abundant supply of labor through safe, intelligent humanoids. As we scale from research and development to full-scale manufacturing, we seek a dedicated and organized Robot Service Triage Specialist to support our Service Team.
As a Robot Service Triage Specialist at 1X Technologies, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our humanoid and AI-powered robots operate safely, efficiently, and reliably in customer environments. This role demands a hands-on, technically skilled individual capable of rapid problem-solving, meticulous diagnostics, and seamless cross-functional collaboration to resolve hardware and software issues in the field or remotely.
Responsibilities
Rapidly diagnose issues across mechanical assemblies, sensors, actuators, control boards, and firmware on 1X robots deployed in customer-facing or test environments.
Review telemetry logs, video clips, and system data (e.g., EtherCAT, CAN) using proprietary 1X tooling and visualization interfaces.
Execute and validate robot routines (e.g., movement cycles, service diagnostics) to isolate hardware/software root causes.
Perform field-level electrical debugging and minor hardware repairs, including probing, soldering, or connector inspection when needed.
Initiate detailed repair actions by coordinating with service technicians, and ensure timely resolution through follow-ups.
Update and contribute to the robot service manual by documenting recurring triage workflows and verified fixes.
Maintain detailed case logs, failure statistics, and service KPIs to support engineering feedback loops and system design improvements.
Collaborate closely with our Robotics, Firmware, Mechanical, and Support Engineering teams to triage and resolve complex, multi-domain system issues.
Participate in the development and refinement of field service procedures, remote diagnostics tools, and robot health analytics.
Job requirements
Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering—or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve hardware-software integration issues in robotic or electromechanical systems.
Experience working with real-time communication protocols such as EtherCAT, CAN, or RS485 in embedded systems.
Proficiency using Linux-based command line environments and basic scripting to support diagnostics.
Skilled with test and measurement tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and soldering equipment.
Ability to interpret wiring schematics, PCB layouts, and firmware logs.
Strong communication skills—able to clearly document findings and explain technical issues across teams.
Comfortable working in dynamic, high-paced environments and adjusting to evolving priorities.
Nice to haves:
Familiarity with robot perception systems (e.g., depth cameras, LiDAR, or IMUs).
Experience using cloud-based diagnostic or telemetry dashboards.
Exposure to safety protocols and certification standards (e.g., ISO 10218, ISO 13849).
Experience with service documentation systems or ticketing platforms (e.g., Jira, Zendesk, or ServiceNow).
Prior involvement in robotic field deployments or fleet management at scale.
Knowledge of human-robot interaction (HRI) challenges in real-world applications.
Ability to design or implement custom test fixtures or diagnostic tools.
