We are seeking a meticulous and highly organized Staff Accountant with a strong background in accounts payable and payroll operations. This role plays a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely payment processing, and administering end-to-end payroll for employees. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, demonstrate compliance with regulatory standards, and handle confidential information with a high level of discretion and integrity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
Execute and support full-cycle accounting operations, such as AP/AR processes, that include vendor management, invoicing, payment processing, and collection support as needed.
Maintain accuracy of the general ledger by analyzing and reconciling key accounts
Help ensure compliance with applicable guidance (US GAAP), internal controls, and corporate accounting policies
Support and assist with external audits/reviews, preparing schedules and documentation
Support tax filings, business license renewals, and other compliance-related reporting
Conduct light technical accounting research to ensure compliance with applicable guidance (US GAAP).
Support AP operations and reconciliation in partnership with HR and external vendors.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Help identify and implement process improvements as we scale our financial infrastructure.
Job requirements
Qualifications:
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA preferred, but not required.
Understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and practices
Strong Accounts Payable experience, with the ability to contribute to broader accounting functions (not AP-specialist only).
Solid knowledge of reconciliations, month-end close, and journal entry preparation.
Exposure to or interest in technical accounting topics and ability to conduct research when needed.
Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills and proficiency with modern accounting systems and ERPs (e.g., NetSuite, RAMP, Stampli)
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Startup or hardware experience is a plus, but not required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Big 4 firms and/or the manufacturing industry
Experience with system implementations
Knowledge of GAAP and internal control procedures

This role is expected to be onsite 5 days per week in Palo Alto.
