Job description
Target start date: Immediately. Relocation provided.
Since its founding in 2015, 1X has been at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids.
We strive for excellence in all we do, solving some of the hardest problems in robotics with the world’s most talented individuals. Every part of our robots is designed and produced in-house—from motor coils to AI—reflecting our vertically integrated approach. At 1X, you’ll own real projects, be recognized for your achievements, and rewarded based on merit.
As a Sr. Manufacturing Technician on the 1X team, you will build robots, improve processes, and provide feedback to cross-functional engineering teams. You will support and coordinate daily technical activities in our prototyping and pilot manufacturing environments. You will help validate new designs for manufacturability, support new product launches, and ensure operational continuity in prototype work cells. This role plays a key part in optimizing manufacturing efficiency from early-stage builds through initial production ramp.
Responsibilities
Assist and train engineers in fabricating, assembling, and integrating robotic prototypes, including both mechanical and electrical systems
Collaborate across engineering teams to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and electrical integration issues
Document and communicate test results, build feedback, and improvement suggestions to stakeholders
Support process development and validation for manufacturability, safety, and quality
Identify risks and propose creative countermeasures to improve build and production processes
Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for failure investigations
Evaluate new components and provide design feedback for manufacturability improvements
Perform standardized tasks at various assembly stations while maintaining high quality and meeting production timing goals
Job requirements
Hands-on experience as an engineering or manufacturing technician in robotics, automotive, medical devices, or related fields
Familiarity with factory or production line operations
Skilled in using hand and power tools, and working with high/low voltage systems
Understanding of process documentation and manufacturing work instructions
Comfortable with physical tasks and repetitive work in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving mindset, with ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including meeting participation and status reporting
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and 3D CAD; familiarity with CAD tools such as CATIA or SolidWorks is a plus
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including potential overtime and weekend support as needed
Nice to have
Experience with electrical design tools (e.g., Altium) and/or rapid prototyping tools like 3D printers
Familiarity with software such as Microsoft Office, Jira, Confluence, and PLM/CAD systems (e.g., Enovia)
Compensation
At 1X your work and results will be rewarded with a total rewards package consisting of a base salary and benefits. The hourly range for this position is $30 to $55. Your actual rate will be based on your knowledge, skills and experience.
