Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior IT Operations Engineer to lead the administration, security, and scaling of our IT systems. In this role, you will define best practices, drive automation, and champion Zero Trust principles to ensure our environment remains secure and efficient. You will collaborate closely with security, engineering, and robotics teams to deliver a seamless IT experience that supports the company’s specialized workflows. This is a high-impact role, critical to supporting 1X’s growth and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize Google Workspace for enterprise collaboration, security, and automation

• Own Okta identity and access management, including SSO, lifecycle automation, and policy enforcement

• Administer Microsoft Intune for device compliance, endpoint security, and patch management

• Lead Mobile Device Management (MDM) across macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android devices

• Develop automation scripts and tooling using Bash, Python, and PowerShell to streamline IT operations

• Improve reliability, efficiency, and security by reducing manual processes

• Champion Zero Trust principles across identity, endpoints, and networks

• Partner with the Security team to align IT operations with compliance and security frameworks

• Monitor, investigate, and remediate IT-related security issues

• Act as an escalation point for IT issues across the company

• Mentor junior IT engineers and help establish best practices

• Collaborate with engineering, robotics, and manufacturing teams to ensure IT systems support specialized workflows

Requirements

• Experience with Google Workspace administration

• Proficiency with Okta for SSO, lifecycle automation, and access policy management

• Expertise in Microsoft Intune for endpoint compliance, application deployment, and patching

• Knowledge of Mobile Device Management platforms across multiple operating systems

• Strong scripting skills with Bash, Python, and PowerShell

• Understanding of Zero Trust security concepts

• Background in IT operations within high-growth or engineering-heavy environments

• Familiarity with endpoint security and compliance best practices

• Experience scaling IT infrastructure for hybrid, cloud-first organizations

• Proven ability to act as a senior-level escalation point for IT issues

• Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform and Ansible

• Experience supporting robotics or manufacturing IT environments

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Okta, Google Workspace, Microsoft, CISSP)
