Senior Staff Accountant
Job description
Since its founding in 2015, 1X has been at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids.
We strive for excellence in all we do, solving some of the hardest problems in robotics with the world’s most talented individuals. Every part of our robots is designed and produced in-house—from motor coils to AI—reflecting our vertically integrated approach. At 1X, you’ll own real projects, be recognized for your achievements, and rewarded based on merit.
We are seeking a Senior Accountant with strong technical and operational accounting experience to play a key role in building and scaling our finance function. This individual will oversee critical components of the month-end close, drive improvements across core accounting processes, maintain accuracy of the general ledger, and support cross-functional initiatives across a fast-growing robotics organization.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of GAAP, strong reconciliation and close experience, the ability to independently resolve complex issues, and the confidence to own accounting processes end-to-end. This is a high-impact role within a small but rapidly scaling team—perfect for someone who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Own significant areas of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycles, including complex journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and analytics
Lead full-cycle accounting operations across AP/AR, vendor management, invoicing, payment processing, and collections support as needed
Maintain and improve the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP
Drive operational excellence through documenting, strengthening, and implementing internal controls
Prepare supporting schedules and manage deliverables for external financial audits
Support federal, state, and local compliance requirements including tax filings, business licenses, and regulatory reporting
Conduct technical accounting research and prepare documentation on new or complex transactions
Partner closely with HR, Supply Chain, Engineering, and external vendors to ensure accurate, timely financial operations
Identify inefficiencies and propose process or systems improvements as we scale our financial infrastructure
Serve as a subject matter expert for AP processes, ERP workflows, and general accounting procedures
Help mentor junior team members as the finance function grows
