We are at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids. As we transition from R&D to full-scale manufacturing, we seek an experienced Senior Battery Systems Engineer. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Battery Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of the battery systems development lifecycle, including design, architecture, development, documentation, testing, and operations. Collaborating closely with other hardware- and software-teams, you will play a vital role in everything battery related from design to mass manufacturing. We are looking for individuals with hands-on experience, and a proactive "get-things-done" attitude.

Within one month, you will…

  • Get familiar with the current battery system and the challenges that come with it.

  • Start the requirements gathering and architecture definition of our next generation battery for NEO.


Within three months, you will…

  • Start the development of the battery system of the first prototype.

  • Build a test and verification plan for the different battery prototypes that will be built until final product.


Within one year, you will…

  • Start test and integration of the first battery pack on the full robot system.

  • Help preparing manufacturing at scale for our humanoids fleet.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a battery system, to be developed fully in-house.
  • Develop and support verification, validation, and integration strategies, as well as testing from prototype to production.
  • Coordinate the different team members of our future Battery team.
  • Collaborate with the controls and other hardware teams to ensure the battery is developed optimally for our humanoid NEO.
  • Collaborate with external and internal suppliers and manufacturers to ensure the batteries are build up to spec.

Job requirements

Must-Haves:

  • Strong experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures for batteries
  • Experience in circuit design for a rechargeable lithium-ion battery powered device
  • Experience with testing, qualification and certification of battery packs
  • Experience leading the design, build, and deployment of battery products

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in cooling system design and management
  • Experience in CAD mechanical design
  • Experience in PCB design
  • Experience with busbar design and joining (spot welding, laser welding, wire bonding etc.)
