Job description
Since its founding in 2015, 1X has been at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids.
We strive for excellence in all we do, solving some of the hardest problems in robotics with the world’s most talented individuals. Every part of our robots is designed and produced in-house—from motor coils to AI—reflecting our vertically integrated approach. At 1X, you’ll own real projects, be recognized for your achievements, and rewarded based on merit.
We believe the best work is done when collaborating and therefore require in-person presence in our office locations.
Why this job is exciting:
Design and tune microphone and speaker systems for clear, reliable audio in real-world conditions.
Build and test audio hardware using tools like oscilloscopes, anechoic chambers, and analysis software.
Work closely with software teams on real-time streaming, noise reduction, and ML-powered audio features.
Run field tests, collect data, and improve audio performance based on what you find.
Own the full audio pipeline — from early prototyping to final product tuning.
Job requirements
Hands-on experience building audio systems that shipped in real products.
Solid understanding of noise reduction, echo cancellation, and spatial audio.
Comfortable working with both hardware and software teams to get audio right.
Strong debugging and tuning skills, especially in tough acoustic environments.
Clear communicator who can tie audio work to overall product goals.
Nice to Haves:
C++, Python, or Embedded C skills for DSPs or microcontrollers.
Familiar with real-time audio on Linux (e.g., ALSA, PulseAudio, GStreamer).
Experience integrating audio into ROS or robotic systems.
Know-how in audio testing and measurement (SPL, latency, etc.).
Experience using ML tools like TensorFlow for audio tasks.
