Job description
Targeted start date: Immediately. Relocation provided.
Since its founding in 2015, 1X has been at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids.
We strive for excellence in all we do, solving some of the hardest problems in robotics with the world’s most talented individuals. Every part of our robots is designed and produced in-house—from motor coils to AI—reflecting our vertically integrated approach. At 1X, you’ll own real projects, be recognized for your achievements, and rewarded based on merit.
As we scale from research and development to full-scale manufacturing, we are looking for a Quality Inspection Specialist to join our team.
Responsibilities
Perform inspections on incoming, in-process, and final parts using precision measurement tools, ensuring compliance with GD&T, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
Develop and refine inspection workflows to improve efficiency, optimize part flow, and establish clear inspection criteria and documentation.
Serve as the primary decision-maker for part acceptance or rejection, collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
Continuously evaluate and improve inspection procedures, leveraging automation and best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant inspection area, ensuring all measurement tools and equipment are properly calibrated, maintained, and in working order.
Develop and maintain high-quality documentation, including metrology protocols, inspection reports, and quality manuals, to support compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
Train and mentor team members on inspection techniques, quality standards, and proper tool usage to maintain consistency and accuracy.
Job requirements
Must-Haves:
5+ years of experience in part inspection, quality control, or manufacturing, with a strong understanding of GD&T, interpreting engineering drawings, and quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100).
Proficiency in precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM) and experience in FAI, PPAP, Gauge R&R and non-conformance documentation.
Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to develop measurement strategies, establish robust and reliable measurement setups, and deliver structured clear data to inform decision-making.
Experience collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor others.
Nice-To-Haves:
Experience in aerospace, automotive, medical device, or precision manufacturing sectors.
Experience working in startups or lean teams, demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness in dynamic environments.
Proven experience in building and leading teams specializing in high-precision measurements
Familiarity with both low- and high-volume manufacturing technologies, allowing for informed recommendations on design changes aligned with manufacturing constraints
Proficiency in quality frameworks for resolving complex technical issues, including Six Sigma, 8D Problem Solving, Ishikawa (Fishbone Diagram), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and the 5 Whys methodology.
