Role Overview
As a Production Buyer at 1X, you will manage purchasing and material planning as part of our global supply chain. You’ll work closely with demand planning, manufacturing, and new product introduction teams to ensure materials and components are procured on time and in alignment with production and launch schedules. You will help optimize interactions with suppliers, maintain inventory health, and support engineering and ramp‑up for new product builds.

Responsibilities

  • Execute purchase orders based on forecasts from demand planning and production schedules

  • Coordinate procurement activities with Global Supply Managers, aligning with sourcing strategies and supplier commitments

  • Monitor supplier lead times and ensure on-time delivery; escalate risks of supply constraints

  • Collaborate with demand planning to make accurate purchasing decisions and avoid shortages or excess inventory

  • Maintain, track, and optimize inventory levels, including strategies for safety stock and alternate sourcing

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by sourcing materials, qualifying suppliers, and assisting manufacturing ramp-ups for prototypes and pre-production runs

  • Maintain accurate purchase order records, enforce compliance with contract terms and pricing, and expedite critical orders when needed

  • Coordinate with logistics to manage shipments and resolve delivery issues

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field

  • At least 3 years of experience in procurement, production planning, or supply chain management in a manufacturing or technology environment

  • Exposure to working with global suppliers and fast-paced, high-tech settings

  • Strong knowledge of demand planning, inventory control, and supplier management practices

  • Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, including prototype or pre-production procurement

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems or equivalent tools for tracking orders, inventory, and supplier performance

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skill
