Role Overview

As an Embedded Firmware Developer for Battery Charger systems, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and optimizing firmware that controls charging, power regulation, safety, and user‑facing performance. You will collaborate closely with electrical and software teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient charging and battery management in both prototype and production systems. Your work will have direct impact on safety, performance, and user experience across product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Architect firmware for the charger and digital power distribution controller

  • Design and implement real‑time control algorithms for charging, power regulation, and safety protection

  • Develop firmware features including state of charge estimation, thermal regulation, and fault diagnostics

  • Implement communication protocols (e.g. CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C) for battery monitoring and control

  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and Battery Management System (BMS) developers for hardware‑software integration

  • Support firmware testing, validation, and debugging on prototype and production hardware

  • Contribute to higher‑level robot software safety features

Job requirements

  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, with focus on battery chargers, BMS, or power electronics

  • Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming

  • Understanding of battery technologies (e.g. Li‑ion, Li‑Polymer) and battery management principles

  • Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, and/or Modbus

Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware interactions

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have

  • Familiarity with functional safety standards relevant to chargers and batteries in consumer hardware

  • Prior experience with PCB design

  • Experience designing or working on digital power distribution controllers
