Electrical Test Technician

  • On-site
    • Hayward, California, United States
  • $22 - $60 per hour
  • Manufacturing and Production

Job description

Since its founding in 2015, 1X has been at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids.

We strive for excellence in all we do, solving some of the hardest problems in robotics with the world’s most talented individuals. Every part of our robots is designed and produced in-house—from motor coils to AI—reflecting our vertically integrated approach. At 1X, you’ll own real projects, be recognized for your achievements, and rewarded based on merit.

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Test Technician to join our manufacturing and quality team. You will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and validating electrical assemblies for our next-generation humanoid robots. This role involves using test equipment, interpreting schematics, and working closely with engineering to ensure all products meet performance and safety requirements.

This position is ideal for technicians from robotics, EV, aerospace, or defense electronics backgrounds who have hands-on testing experience and a passion for building reliable, high-performance systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform functional and electrical tests on PCBs, wiring harnesses, subassemblies, and fully integrated robotic systems.

  • Operate multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and other test equipment.

  • Follow detailed test procedures, engineering specifications, and safety protocols.

  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in wiring, components, or assemblies, and perform repairs when applicable.

  • Record and document all test results for quality traceability.

  • Work with engineering to refine test processes and support root cause analysis of failures.

  • Load firmware or configuration settings as part of the test process.

  • Verify compliance with ESD, cleanliness, and safety standards.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining test fixtures and test stations.

  • Support both prototype builds and production line testing.

Job requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–5 years experience in electrical/electronics testing, ideally in robotics, EV, aerospace, or defense electronics.

  • Proficient with common test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.).

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for both component-level and system-level faults.

  • Experience with ESD-safe handling procedures.

  • Familiarity with data logging and reporting tools.

  • IPC-A-610 certification preferred; experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620 (cable harnesses) is a plus.

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, prototype-to-production environment.

  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation skills, and teamwork.

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing hands-on work for extended periods.
