Electrical Engineer (All Levels), Diagnostics Engineering

The Role
As an Electrical Engineer on the Diagnostics Engineering team, you'll improve the reliability of our robots by developing electrical modifications, diagnostic tools, and root cause analysis methods. You’ll design solutions to systemic electrical issues, create tools that speed up and improve diagnostics, and evaluate robots in service. Your work will intersect hardware, software, and operations, ensuring our fleet continues to operate at peak performance.
You Will
Design, prototype, and validate electrical improvements to address field failures and deploy updates across the fleet
Analyze fleet-wide failure trends to identify systemic electrical issues and propose design improvements
Build diagnostic tools such as test fixtures, breakout boards, and software scripts to enhance fault isolation and testing accuracy
Assess incoming robots to identify electrical failures, execute diagnostic procedures, and document root causes
Assign and oversee repair work, ensuring outbound robots meet electrical performance standards
Create and refine diagnostic procedures and test protocols for improved efficiency and accuracy
Communicate findings and design recommendations to hardware engineering teams for production implementation
Collaborate across engineering teams to implement improvements and manage rollouts
Job requirements
Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
3+ years of hands-on experience with electrical systems, robotics, or electromechanical products
Proven ability to diagnose complex electrical failures through systematic analysis
Experience designing and validating electrical improvements in hardware systems
Experience building electrical test fixtures, diagnostic tools, or custom electronics
Proficiency with lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, and logic analyzers
Software skills for building diagnostic tools (Python, shell scripting, or similar)
Working knowledge of power systems, motor drives, sensors, PCBAs, and wire harnesses
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical findings
Hands-on comfort with soldering, wire harness rework, and electrical assembly
Full-time availability for on-site work in Palo Alto

Salary Range: $95k - $250k
