Driver, Logistics / Operations

Location: Hayward, CA (on-site)

Role Summary
1X is seeking an experienced and reliable Driver to join our Logistics team.

The Driver will play a key role in supporting both internal and external operations through safe, efficient transportation and material handling. This position involves delivering and picking up materials between 1X facilities, vendors, and customers, as well as supporting production, R&D, and engineering teams with timely logistics services.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in warehousing and transportation, an exceptional driving history, and strong skills in route management, communication, and time management.

In addition to material transport duties, this role also includes operating a charter shuttle bus on a daily schedule to transport employees between parking areas and 1X manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Following internal training and certification to operational processes, this position is responsible for:

  • Safely loading, unloading, and transporting materials between 1X locations and external sites, including vendors, customers, postal/freight services, and 3PL providers.

  • Operating company vehicles (including those with GVWR above 10,001 lbs) to move employees and materials between offsite parking areas and manufacturing facilities on scheduled and ad hoc routes.

  • Completing daily vehicle inspection checklists and pre-/post-trip reports; monitoring fuel levels and reporting maintenance or safety issues promptly.

  • Adhering to all internal driving policies and applicable local, state, and federal transportation regulations.

  • Performing material handling tasks using powered equipment such as forklifts and electric pallet jacks.

  • Executing systematic transactions within 1X’s ERP system to record material movements accurately.

  • Supporting warehouse operations through standard processes such as receiving, put-away, point-of-use replenishment, and FIFO material rotation.

  • Maintaining organized, safe, and compliant work areas consistent with 5S, Safety, and Good Documentation/Warehouse Practices.

  • Communicating clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including timely e-mail updates on material movement status when required.

  • Participating in daily safety walks and management meetings while maintaining compliance with PPE and workplace safety requirements.

  • Identifying and proposing operational improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and process consistency; collaborating with management to implement approved improvements.

  • Developing proficiency across key warehouse functions to provide flexible operational support as needed.

  • Performing other duties as assigned to support daily logistics and warehouse needs.

Job requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and ability to maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of material handling, warehousing, or driving experience preferred.

  • Experience and/or certification in operating powered material handling equipment preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations required; hazardous materials certification a plus.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent physical activities (walking, bending, climbing, squatting, and extended sitting).

  • Proficiency with GPS and ability to follow directions accurately.

  • Experience with computer systems such as Microsoft Office, Odoo, Google Suite, JIRA, or PLM preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with peers and internal customers.

  • Experience with continual improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, PDCA) preferred.
