Role Overview
We are seeking a Prototype Machinist to support rapid hardware iteration and precision part fabrication for humanoid robots. In this role, you will operate both manual and CNC machines, program toolpaths, and collaborate closely with hardware engineers to ensure high-quality, production-ready parts. You’ll also contribute to process improvements, fixture design, and shop maintenance while playing a key role in bridging design and manufacturing. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Palo Alto.

Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual lathes and mills to fabricate prototype and low-volume parts
Program CAM toolpaths and operate 3-/4-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes to tight tolerances
Collaborate with engineers to review prints, recommend DFM improvements, and plan machining strategies
Inspect and validate parts using calipers, micrometers, and CMM equipment
Maintain shop cleanliness, machine upkeep, consumables, and raw material inventory while ensuring safety compliance
Design and build tools, jigs, and fixtures to improve machining setups and accelerate validation
Requirements
Hands-on experience operating manual lathes and mills
Proficiency in programming and running CNC machines
Experience with CAM software for toolpath generation
Demonstrated ability to achieve and hold tight tolerances on machined parts
Bonus: Background in high-precision industries such as robotics or aerospace
Bonus: Experience collaborating with 3D printing technicians and integrating additive and subtractive processes
